Spillmanville: The Day After Black Friday...

Hope everyone survived Black Friday and successfully lived through all the macing, customer riots, and all the falls from climbing the sale racks at local Wal-Marts. We here @ Spillmanville blew all that off. We've been in the studio nicely tucked away working and working. It has been great having these last few days off. I can honestly say that I love being in my creative space with this much time to let the work make itself. I've grown so accustomed to cramming in all that I can into a few hours after the job. Taking my time has been wonderful. Thank god for ESPN3 and the hearty helping of soccer, basketball, and football. I've had games going on the laptop all day and records spinning on the turntable. Hell, just being able to make it through so many records throughout the day has been inspiration enough. I'm sure I'll have a back to work hangover starting tomorrow, but I'm gonna make the most of today as well.
Above, is an image of "Spillmanville Funnies" #3. It's self explanatory. I started drawing the snow yesterday as the cold front was coming in. It's kind of ironic, but the local weatherman started talking about snow headed for the M today. Really? I'll believe it when I see it. It was almost 80 degrees when I got up yesterday. I love weather.
The best thing about having the full day to work, is that when you start running low on energy, the ideas start coming out again. This comic and the next one coming up, both came to me in those weird tripped out moments that only happen after working for hours on end. So, yes "Spillmanville Funnies" #4 is leaving the sketchbook for the big paper today. Can't wait. The animal is a toss up between a cow and a lion, but I think the lion is winning. The cow seems to be a worker, but the lion is the boss, uh, I mean the king.So that's the size of it. I've got a few more days to wrap up this project. I've got 2 more coming, and then they go to hang at the Museum. The work has truly been entertaining to make. I'm really gonna miss this pace and the time spent just concentrating on my own work. Good times.
Enjoy,
Spillmanville enjoys CBS Sunday Morning.
